Saturday, December 6, 10:00 AM-5:00 PM: Downtown Knoxville’s most affordable holiday shopping event with unique gifts and live performances by artists who are all members of the Arts & Culture Alliance! FREE admission and parking! The Extravaganza takes place at both the Emporium Center (100 S. Gay Street, corner of Gay/Jackson) and Studio M (108 S. Gay Street). Following the Santa Claus Parade, enjoy a special Block Party at the 100 Block of Gay Street from 8:00-10:00 PM. The 100 Block will be closed to traffic to host the party which will feature a visit from Santa Claus, marshmallow roasting, live entertainment and a variety of vendors.

Saturday, Dec. 6: The Knack Saturdays – Santa’s Workshop, Sat., Dec. 6,10am - 2pm, Michael's, 9622 Kingston Pike, Knoxville 37922. Kids can make three great gifts for friends and loved ones — and wrap them too!

December 6, 12 - 3 p.m.:
25th Annual Holiday Craft Party!Ijams Nature Center, 2915 Island Home Ave, Knoxville 37920. We'll make recycled crafts like wrapping paper, gift tags, ornaments,  candles, pine cone suet feeders, garland and wreath making. There will be snacks for everyone and a wreath-making workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. Free to members, $2 for non-members, plus $5 if you would like to make a wreath. Holiday Express at the UT Gardens:  Fri 5pm - 9pm, Sat 1pm - 9pm, Sun 1pm - 6pm , a 4,000-square-foot garden railway display nestled in the beauty of the fall and winter UT Gardens. Featuring garden-scale model trains running through a perfectly proportioned miniature landscape, complete with rivers and waterfalls and decorated for the holiday season. Adults and children alike can relax around the fire pit while enjoying a cup of hot cocoa., Admission is $5, children 4 and under are free. FPS CLINIC NEEDS YOU!


WANTED!!!! I am looking for wonderful and caring parents
that can provide a little TLC to our adorable students
at FPS Clinic. The job is very rewarding! You will
get a ton of thank yous from our students as well as FPS teachers and staff.
If you are interested in volunteering in the clinic please call the Red Cross at 584-2999 to schedule a one day training. The Red Cross is located at 6921 Middlebrook Pike. Remember the PTA will pay for your training class too.

TWO BUS ROUTES REACH MAXIMUM CAPACITY


Buses 109 and 249 are at maximum capacity. Therefore, students bringing parent notes requesting to ride these two buses will be denied until further notice.

Coupon Books

Coupon books are finally here!!!!! Please go ahead and send in your money for your coupon books
now. Let’s make this a record breaking year for FPS. If your child sells 10 books they will be on TV for the morning announcements. The kids love this!!

Your child will get prizes for all levels of sales. The big prize for top seller in Knox County is free pizza for a year from Papa John’s Pizza. The top 3 sellers at FPS will receive a Wii system.

As you know by now $7.50 of each book stays here at FPS and $2.00 out of that goes to your child’s
teacher, Where does the rest of the money go? $2.50 is left from each book . Out of the $2.50, .75 goes to disadvantaged schools, .25 for all school programs, $1.00 for printing of the book, .50 for administrative cost and prizes.

ICE BEARS TO ATTEND PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE CLASS WINNER PARTY!!!

BIG BIG BIG BIG NEWS!!! The 2008 PTA Membership drive is quickly coming to a close – ONLY ONE WEEK LEFT!!!! We have several teachers already at their 200% mark for this year and several more that are sooooo close!!

I am thrilled to announce that the ICE BEARS professional hockey team and their mascot CHILLY will be coming to FPS for a visit!!! The overall winning class will get a private party with the ICE BEARS!!!! Their training camp begins in October and they are thrilled to have been asked to come to Farragut Primary!! There are lots of classes in the running for this, so GET THOSE MEMBERSHIPS IN TODAY!!!!!!

Superintendent to conduct public forums

The Superintendent of Knox County Schools will conduct two public forums in September and October as part of his formal entry plan.

 Dr. Jim McIntyre will host a forum at Holston Middle School Sept. 25, and a forum at Bearden Middle School Oct. 14.  Both sessions will begin at 6:00 p.m. and are open to residents across Knox County.

 The two sessions are designed for the superintendent to hear community concerns and gather information as he develops his vision for the school system.  Attendees will be asked to share their concerns and comments about general school administrative operations, school security and curriculum and instruction.

 McIntyre will present a vision for the future of Knox County Schools to the Knox County Board of Education in the late fall.
