Teach Art to Kindergarten Students
In Knox County, Art is not a part
of the kindergarten curriculum. To fill that gap, the PTA sponsors a Cultural Arts program where parent volunteers go
into the classroom once a month and teach a prepared art lesson to the children. The lessons are written for you and
take about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. The materials needed in a given month are provided on the art cart in
the art room and you wheel it down to the classroom and get ready for smiling faces to greet you because they are so excited
to see you! You coordinate with other volunteers in your classroom (if there are more than the recommended two), as
well as the teacher to find the best time in any given month to teach the lessons.
